Today we had some very sad news about the loss of a graduate school alumna and research assistant on campus. I am sharing it below.

Because she was a graduate student, she might not have had classes with any of your Deacs. Still, be sure to make your students aware that there are counseling resources available to them if they need it (even if they are not on campus this summer, they can be in touch with the University Counseling Center or Chaplain’s Office).

Please join me in offering your thoughts and prayers to Jessica’s family and friends.

We are saddened to announce that Jessica Rivers, a research assistant in the Department of Psychology, died July 2.

She received a Master of Arts in psychology at Wake Forest in May 2019. She was a research assistant this summer in the Department of Psychology.

We grieve Jessica Rivers’ death and extend our condolences to her family and friends, as well as those at Wake Forest who had the opportunity to know her.

Information about a service for her will be announced to faculty, staff and students once arrangements are finalized.

Wake Forest offers support and counseling services for all students, faculty and staff.  The Counseling Center may be reached at 336-758-5273, the Chaplain’s Office at 336-758-5210.  For faculty and staff, there is also the Employee Assistance Program at 336-716-5493.
