Many thanks to the Deac parents/family members who came to our event at the Wake Washington Center yesterday. This was my first trip the Wake Washington Center, and it was wonderful!

For those of you who are not familiar, we have a ‘semester abroad at home’ type program in Wake Washington. It allows students to take academic classes and have an internship in DC. Gives them real world work experience in one of the most exciting cities in our country, and allows them to learn from great Wake faculty and take advantage of our strong alumni and parent/family network in DC. Details about the program are here.

I took some pics of the WWC before our event, so you can see the space. Pics below. They have done a great job taking this space at 1 Dupont Circle and bring touches of Wake to DC – everything from carpets with our distinct WF on it, to athletic swag, to pictures of campus so you feel like you are here. They have both reception space and classroom space and more. Please do encourage your students to consider the Wake Washington program. It is so impressive.

Finally, one of my counterparts at another school has been instrumental in benchmarking the way colleges work with parents and families. She’s got a new project she’s working on, which is to look at trends in college parenting. If you have 5-10 minutes to take a short survey (25 questions or so), it would be great if you could help her out. Take the survey here. For those of us who work in higher ed administration, getting valuable data about national trends is really critical. Thanks in advance for your participation 🙂
