Happy Friday, Deac families! One important program note: mark your calendar because registration for Family Weekend will open this coming Tuesday, July 10th at 10 am. Monday’s Daily Deac will have important information about Family Weekend from my colleagues in the Office of Student Engagement (they are the office that plans and facilitates Family Weekend). So keep your eye out for Monday’s Daily Deac.
Prior to registration, it might be helpful if you visited the Family Weekend website and reviewed the full schedule of events, talk to your Deacs about what activities they want to attend, and read through their FAQ so you are ready to register when it opens.
Today I want to solicit the help of the Daily Deacdom. One of my roles is to coordinate our New Student Receptions (events where incoming students and their parents/family members can meet each other before school starts.) At these events, we always like to have a few rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors to serve as panelists for a Q&A about how to get your best start at Wake.
We have been beating the bushes for students and still have some receptions where I am coming up short. So I am trying to find 1-3 upperclassmen/women to attend the following receptions:
Winston-Salem, NC – 7/15 and 7/24
Los Angeles, CA – 7/15
Greenwich, CT – 7/19
Lexington, KY – 7/24
Greensboro, NC – 7/26
Wilmington, NC – 8/4
Philadelphia, PA – 8/5
Potomac, MD – 8/7
Short Hills, NJ – 8/8
Nashville, TN- 8/9
If your Deac is in any of these towns (or is here in W-S for summer school) and they would like to volunteer, please have them email me at parents@wfu.edu. (Remember not to click the underlined link to parents@wfu.edu in the emailed version of the Daily Deac that hits your inbox, as the emailed version always adds some weird null character). And on a personal note…because I know he is a reader, Happy Anniversary to Mr. Daily Deac!! 22 years ago today we were married in Wait Chapel 🙂
