Today is a great news day on campus.  First: the question on so many of your minds, “When is Family Weekend?”  Family Weekend’s date has just been set as October 27-29, 2017. Family Weekend is planned and facilitated by the Office of Student Engagement.  It’s a terrific weekend which provides students and their families with numerous programs and events.  The Office of Student Engagement will have information available about Family Weekend closer to the summer, and when it is available, we’ll link you to it – so stay tuned.

Also there is a tremendous story about how our alumnus and Trustee, Mit Shah (’91), has donated an additional $5 million to Wake Forest basketball.  Embedded in this story is a video worth watching – so please do.  On a personal note, I have known Mit for years through his many volunteer roles at Wake Forest, and you aren’t going to find many people that bleed more black and gold than he does, not to mention a nicer guy.  On behalf of all of us who love Wake and love Wake basketball, thank you, Mit!

In other basketball news, we have a big game against Duke at 3 pm on Saturday.  Students, come out in force.  Our team’s star is rising, and it looks to be a good game.

Are your Deacs looking for some new ways to be involved on campus?  The Spring Involvement Fair: Thrive Into Involvement will be held this Sunday, January 29th from 4-7 pm in the Benson University Center.  At this Sunday’s Spring Involvement Fair, students will learn how they can thrive by getting involved on campus! During the Involvement Fair, student organizations will educate the campus community on how their values, missions, and initiatives promote wellbeing.  The Spring Involvement Fair is a great opportunity for student organizations to recruit new members, market upcoming events, and help students find their place on campus.

Don’t forget it’s Friday – you know what to do. Call your kids.  Tell them you love them. Have a conversation. Tell them you are proud of them. Make it a great weekend, Deac families!
