Family Weekend is always a time of great fun – you get to see your students at Wake Forest, with their friends and with the college student perspective.

Well, my friend and colleague from the Wake Forest Magazine, Kerry King (’85), found this hilarious tidbit about Wake Forest’s 3rd Parents’ Weekend (as it was called in 1960).

1960 Parents WeekendThe kicker is that the weekend fell on the NC Furniture Market weekend, which meant all the hotels in the Triad area were taken by the Furniture Market folks.  The situation was deftly handled by requesting cots from Fort Bragg.  The Army to the rescue!  You can read the article via the photo.

Thanks to Kerry for the Flashback Friday moment.  Make it a great weekend, Deac families!
