A Day Off

Today is a day off for faculty, staff, and students.  Whether your Deac makes it home for a three-day weekend or stays on campus, we hope that he/she has a wonderful weekend.

If your student is staying on campus, here’s a few suggestions for how to make the most of the time off (assuming good weather, of course).

Take a drive up to Pilot Mountain and go hiking.

Pack a picnic lunch and walk down to Reynolda Gardens.  Spread a blanket on the grass, open a good book, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Explore some of the many fun places downtown.  Grab a cup of coffee and a pastry at Camino Bakery.  See an arty movie at a/perture theatre.

Check out the Saturday morning farmer’s markets – there is one at the Dixie Classic Fair right near the LJVM C0liseum – and make some delicious homecooked foods.

Go to Old Salem or Old Bethabara for a look at our city’s history.
