Yesterday, I had the chance to learn more about a program at Wake Forest that might be of interest to parents and families.  WFU CHOICES – which stands for Cultivating Healthier Opinions In Challenging Everyday Situations – is Wake Forest’s substance abuse prevention program.

The mission of WFU CHOICES is to gain a greater understanding of the dynamics of our community, provide education and resources to individuals and groups, and empower students to make healthy choices. WFU CHOICES’ goal is to provide accurate information to students, support healthy and responsible choices, increase protective factors, and decrease risk behaviors, fostering a safe environment for students to succeed in all aspects of their university experience.

WFU CHOICES offers a number of services: workshops/trainings, alcohol and other drug individual assessments and brief counseling, campus wide programming, consultation to students, faculty, and staff with regards to alcohol and other drug concerns, and referrals to community support services.

For more information, you can visit the WFU CHOICES webpage or contact Lavi Wilson, our Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator, at wilsonsl@wfu.edu or  336-758-4371.
