————

You and I work together, so I know some of this, but let’s do this properly! What is your official job title?
Assistant Director, Parent and Young Alumni Giving

How long have you worked at WFU?
4 years – 3 in International Admissions and 1 in Advancement.

You know, I envy you all that international travel! In laymen’s terms, what do you do at WFU?
I engage parents and young alumni via financial support of Wake Forest, and identify and develop future university leaders through the Young Alumni Development Board.

In what year did you graduate, and what was your major?
2007, Spanish

What are some of your favorite memories of your time on campus?
Singing in the University Concert Choir and women’s a cappella group [here we have a picture of your solo!], playing frisbee on the Quad, debating serious (and not-so-serious) subjects while doing late night laundry.

How would you characterize Wake Forest students today – how are they different from your time on campus?
Better prepared, career focused, crazy connected! The opportunities and resources students have today versus even 5 years ago is incredible.

I didn’t step foot into our Career Services office until my senior year when I needed someone to look at my resume.  I was in college to learn about the things I had always wanted to learn about, regardless of their relevance to my life afterwards. Now, students are thinking about what they are going to do post-college almost from day one. They see college as a time of preparation and focused development. Students today are seeking great advice on courses of study, getting funding for unique research opportunities, and using LinkedIn and Facebook to get internships to try out (I didn’t even know I needed one when I graduated!).

What advice would you give to students?
Study what you love. Then make all A’s. The job will come. Also, spend time hanging out with professors.

What do you like best about working at Wake Forest?
Sometimes I walk along the Quad and I swear I can smell the academia on campus. I get to work with smart people!
