Volunteers needed – Senior Players Championship

One of the members of the Parents’ Council has made us aware of a special golf event that is in need of volunteers – and if we receive enough volunteers, it could benefit Wake Forest via a $10,000 donation.  If you live in the Rye, NY area, please take note!  There is a Volunteer Flyer and Volunteer application form online if you would like more information.

Whether you or your WF student are golf fans, or if you have younger students in need of a community service project, this might be a great opportunity for fun and service – and potential benefit to Wake Forest as well.

While positions last, the Senior Players Championship will donate $10,000 to each charity that can provide the tournament with 50 volunteers (Note – charities must be a 501(c) (3) and all volunteers must work 3 shifts.)

The 2011 Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship is just around the corner, August 15-21.  Westchester Country Club is excited to be hosting a professional golf event again at our club and could use your help as the event requires volunteer support in a variety of areas.  Many of you have helped out in the past and we hope you will do so again.

For those of you with high school age children – it’s a great way to earn Community Service Credits. Students 16 or older can attain 18 hours of community service credit by participating.  So please contact your local high school with this student offer and promote to the schoolteacher community who will not be working in August (Rye schools are already engaged).

Attached you will find the volunteer application and committee descriptions list.  There are many different committees to choose from, including working in the media center, helping the transportation team coordinate airport arrivals of the Champions Tour players, or even marshaling a hole during the competition.  All volunteers must commit to at least 3 shifts during tournament week (12-16 total hours). Volunteers also receive a shirt, jacket, hat, 4 good any one day tickets, invitation to the volunteer appreciation party and food and beverage on days worked (Cost – $65)
