The Pit has been the nickname for the Reynolda Hall cafeteria for as long as I have known it. While my colleagues in Campus Dining would like us to call it The Fresh Food Company, it will always be The Pit to me.

Located in the basement of Reynolda, The Pit has a wide variety of food stations, and the food is prepared right there in front of you. Offerings typically include: salad bar, sandwich bar, make your own waffles, an omelet station where you select your own ingredients, brick oven pizza, homestyle comfort food, a vegetarian station, desserts, a grill line with French fries and such, and more.

This summer, the University moved its Sundry Shop convenience store out of a space adjacent to The Pit so that more seating could be added. The Pit is always buzzing with students. There are a number of flat screen TVs on one end – often tuned to Sportscenter and ESPN. When the Deacs have an especially great performance in football or basketball, the seats near the TVs are very much desired. Everyone wants to see WFU highlights on Sportscenter the next day.
