The following message was sent to parents and families who have a student studying abroad in England in fall 2017, on behalf of David Taylor, Assistant Dean for Global Study Away.

Dear WFU Parents,

You are receiving this email because you have a student participating on a Wake Forest or Wake Forest-affiliated study abroad program in London for the fall 2017 semester.

As you have likely seen, there was an explosion this morning at the Parsons Green tube station in southwest London. There are no WFU or WFU-affiliated programs located in this area of town, and no WFU students have been affected by this incident.

Depending on the specific program, students are currently attending their classes, taking part in program orientation activities, or in some cases, preparing to depart for London. All programs continue to operate as normal. Likewise, WFU staff currently in London (which includes myself) can attest that the transportation system is functioning as normal – except for the part of the line where this incident occurred.

During the on-site orientations, please know that considerable time is devoted to safety and security resources and protocols, with reminders given throughout the term.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to let me know. Given that I am presently in London, I can be most easily reached via email at taylordf@wfu.edu.

All best,
David F. Taylor
