Weather Change

This is the time of year our weather starts to change here in North Carolina. Please remind your students of the importance of keeping windows closed when temperatures are around freezing. If there is a problem with their fan coil unit, they can submit a work order to have it checked/repaired. To understand how our units work, please CLICK HERE.

As we plan for closing/opening, we always want to point out that in the event of inclement weather, Wake Alert will provide the most up-to-date information on University operations.

Spring Meal Plan Deadlines

Deadline to decrease is January 2, 2018 and the deadline to increase is January 30, 2018. For more information please visit our website.

Some other quick updates from Residence Life and Housing:

Over Winter Break, the University will be changing laundry providers. Your students will return to all new washers and dryers in their communities; these machines will still be high efficiency and use HE detergent. We will be sending all students information about our new laundry provider and the features of their machines in early January.

We want to thank you and your students in advance for your understanding and patience as room changes will be limited during the Spring semester due to space constraints . Should students want to pursue a room change, our open room change process will run from January 22nd until February 2nd.

Please encourage your student to have open and honest conversations with their roommate regarding their expectations living together. If your student needs additional help or resources with these or any other conversations, our Resident Advisers, Graduate Hall Directors, and Residence Life staff are available. Our staff can even help facilitate these conversations and/or mediations as needed to help all residents live harmoniously in a secure, comfortable, inclusive, and engaging learning community.

We are now accepting applications for Resident Advisers for the 2018-2019 Academic Year. Resident Advisers (RAs) are student leaders hired to live and work in a residential community setting. RAs have a unique opportunity to create vibrant and inclusive communities while developing leadership skills! RAs make a difference in their residents’ lives and help make Wake Forest a place students will want to call home. Applications are due on Friday, January 26, 2018.

For more information on the RA role or how to apply, please visit the Residence Life and Housing’s Resident Adviser webpage.

The Office of Residence Life and Housing will soon be looking for groups of students interested in living in Interest, Themed or Living Learning Communities as a part of the Residential Engagement Communities Program. Groups that are interested in living in community with a shared interest or topic can apply for this program or can join an existing community.  More information about the entire Residential Engagement Community program can be found online.

We are still collecting content suggestions for our Parents and Families section on our newly rebranded website. If you have questions or suggestions for content please visit our Parents and Families page.

As always, do not hesitate to contact our office if you have questions or if we can be of assistance. We can be reached at housing@wfu.edu or 336.758.5185.
