There is never a shortage of activity at Wake, and I would recommend the Events calendar to your Deacs if they are looking for a full list of things to do.  I’m going to point out just a few that are coming up soon.

Tonight (Thursday 12/1) at 7:30 pm in the Mainstage Theatre, Scales Fine Arts Center – the Fall Faculty Guest and Artist Concert: “The Fall Faculty & Guest Artist Concert will feature contemporary, jazz, tap, and classical ballet choreography by our dance faculty and renowned guest choreographers, under the direction of Nina Maria Lucas.”  There are additional offerings Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.

Also tonight at 7:30 in Brendle Recital Hall is the WFU Jazz Concert, featuring Deacon Jazz Machine & Old Gold Jazz Crew, with Jay Meachum and Brandon Robinson, directors.

Does your Deac need to do some holiday shopping?  The Artisans Fair is Friday 12/2 in Benson 401 from 11 am-4 pm.  “Over 30 vendors! Jewelry, woodworking, stitchery, pottery, baked goods, etc. – all made by Wake Foresters!”  This one is kind of cool because your students will get to see a side of their faculty or administrators they might not have known existed (wait, that guy does woodworking?, etc.).

Tuesday, Dec. 6th is the Lighting of the Quad: “The Lighting of the Quad is the time of holiday cheer and good tidings when the Wake Forest family can come together and celebrate the spirit and meaning of community. A festive night of seasonal celebration including a capella performances, remarks from Dr. Hatch, and some sweet hot chocolate as the WFU community comes together in one of Wake Forest’s most treasured traditions to light the Quad. At the ceremony we will be collecting hats, gloves, socks, scarves, and blankets for the Potter’s House.”

That’s just a couple of ideas. Tomorrow we will look at the Lovefeast.
