When we talk about the Wake Forest Family, we really do mean that in the most inclusive way.  We have events all over the country that, with few exceptions, are intended for alumni, parents, and friends of Wake Forest.  The formalized city events/activities structure is run out of the Office of Alumni Engagement but don’t let the word “Alumni” fool you – these are meant for everyone.  In fact, the regional organizations have been renamed WAKE Communities (with the city name following so WAKEWashington, WAKESanFrancisco, etc.) to be inclusive of all Wake Foresters in the city.

There are a couple of regional events coming up featuring Tim Pyatt, Dean of the ZSR Library.  There are few places on campus that can have as much impact on your students as the ZSR Library.  The ZSR has a great many offerings – some your students might use more than others – everything from Starbucks, to places to study, to individualized research session help with librarians, to Wake the Library during finals, and more.

If you live in the Triangle area of NC, Dean Pyatt will be there this Thursday, December 8th at 5:30 (registration here):

Join fellow alumni, parents and friends for a festive evening with Z. Smith Reynolds Library Dean, Tim Pyatt as part of WAKETriangle’s winter socal! Tim will give an update from WFU and the ZSR, including news about Wake’s downtown opening in January, the Wake Will Lead campaign, and the innovative new spaces and programs being launched at the Library.

And if you live in the DC area, I encourage you to attend Dean Pyatt’s speech (Tuesday, December 13th at 6:30; registration here); it is the same type of program as that listed above.

With finals coming up, the ZSR decorating committee has continued its tradition of trying to make studying as festive as possible.  My sources in the ZSR have sent some pictures of this year’s whimsical decorations (below), featuring faces of well-known campus leaders.

And Wake the Library is right around the corner – one of the best traditions we have.  The ZSR will be open 24/7 during the finals period (Friday, 12/9 – Saturday, 12/17 at 7 pm), with lots of fun stuff (food at midnight, a relaxation station, the Ziesta room).
