This is the last Friday before students arrive, and as I look around campus, there is a lot of activity.  The finishing touches are going on for the Farrell Hall landscaping.  There are lots of new plants and grasses around the building.  The new residence halls, Magnolia and Dogwood, have seen a steady stream of trucks delivering the final pieces of furniture.  Some streets have been repaved this summer, they have been working on the large parking lot Q behind Wait Chapel.  It is starting to look and feel like some of the construction is coming to an end, just in time for your Deacs to arrive.

BBBFlierFor those of you who are helping your students pack for their move to campus, it’s worth a reminder that you might be able to save yourself some space in your car(s) by not bringing down storage items like under-the-bed boxes, but instead buying them on campus.  Our University Stores partners with Bed Bath & Beyond to have an enormous supply of frequently-used residence hall items.  There will be two locations for you to shop: on the Manchester Plaza (aka Mag Quad, on the south side of campus near first year residence halls) and also at the Deacon Shop.

We received a question the other day about food service on campus during Move-In.  Here is what our contact in ARAMARK (our Dining Services provider) told us:

Fresh Food Company [aka The Pit], Benson Center Food Court, Starbucks, Subway, Zick’s [our new pizza and wings place] and Einstein’s [Bagels, in Farrell Hall] will all be open on Thursday the 22nd .  The meal plans will be active as well, so students can use their IDs at each of the food venues. Parents, family members and guests are also welcome and can pay with cash or credit card.”

So we are almost ready, Deac families.  All we need now is your students 🙂  Hope you have a great weekend, and remember that every Friday is Black and Gold Friday – show your school spirit and support WFU every Friday by wearing black and gold!
