Last Thursday, there was a special premiere of the movie “The 5th Quarter,” which covered the story of WFU football player Jon Abbate and a family tragedy where his younger brother Luke was killed in a car accident.
The movie, much of which was filmed here in Winston-Salem, debuted here to an invitation-only group of Wake Foresters, including students, members of the campus community, and devoted Demon Deacon fans. It will be in limited release in 150 to 200 theaters in the Southeast and then will expand to other theaters. Parents, you may be familiar with two of its stars, Andie MacDowell (“Sex, Lies and Videotape”) and Aidan Quinn (“Legends of the Fall”), who play Mr. and Mrs. Abbate.
The Winston-Salem Journal ran an article about the movie as well. When The 5th Quarter comes to your town, go see it.
